I produced around 2,000 words for less than 20 cents with GPT-4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am in shock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"283\" src=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/How-To-Use-AI-To-Write-Articles-jpg.webp\" alt=\"chatgpt playground usage to generate articles\" class=\"wp-image-3049\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The screenshot above showed my usage of Open AI&#8217;s Playground and GPT-4 to produce an article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It could be even cheaper if you are willing to use GPT-3.5. GPT-3.5 costs about one cent for over a thousand words, so it&#8217;s about 10 times cheaper than GPT-4. However, I find that GPT-4 is affordable, and the content is better which helps to reduce time spent on editing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m going to share with you how you can use this method to speed up your content creation output.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"overview-of-using-ai-to-write-articles\">Overview Of Using AI To Write Articles<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s set some expectations here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The output from the AI-generated articles isn&#8217;t going to be fantastic. The biggest issues with the output are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Too much repeated content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Too boring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No images<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So, yes, I might generate 2,000 words, but maybe 1,200 is usable. You&#8217;d also want to ensure your articles have images so they don&#8217;t look like a wall of text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your role is going to shift from being a blogger to more of an editor. All AI outputs need some human cleaning up, whether it&#8217;s text or <a href=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/stable-diffusion-for-graphic-design\/\">images generated with AI<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-you-will-need\">What You Will Need<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>To do this, you will need to have these,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/platform.openai.com\/playground\">OpenAI Playground access<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.make.com\/en\/register?pc=xuyunzeng\">Make account<\/a> (affiliate link)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some credits in your OpenAI Playground<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The only cost you will need to bear is buying credits for the OpenAI Playground. The minimum amount you can buy is $5 worth of credits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need access to OpenAI Playground in order to connect Make, the automation tool that will help you generate a complete article. Make is free and you get up to 1,000 operations per month. To generate an article, I use about nine operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can buy credits in OpenAI Playground by going to the left sidebar, then <strong>Settings &gt; Billing &gt; Add to credit balance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"building-your-chatgpt-automation-in-make\">Building Your ChatGPT Automation in Make<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Create your Make account and go to the dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, go to <strong>Scenarios &gt; Create a new scenario<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/make-create-a-scenario-1024x490.webp\" alt=\"make create a scenario\" class=\"wp-image-3058\" srcset=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/make-create-a-scenario-1024x490.webp 1024w, https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/make-create-a-scenario-650x311.webp 650w, https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/make-create-a-scenario-768x368.webp 768w, https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/make-create-a-scenario-1536x736.webp 1536w, https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/make-create-a-scenario-1200x575.webp 1200w, https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/make-create-a-scenario-jpg.webp 1917w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;ll see this screen. Create a Completion is basically just using pure ChatGPT, as if you were using ChatGPT in the browser.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"connection\">Connection<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Next, you will need to create a connection to OpenAI. Click &#8220;Add&#8221; to create the connection. Then, navigate to the URLs provided to retrieve your API Key and Organization ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Get your API key here: <a href=\"https:\/\/beta.openai.com\/account\/api-keys\">https:\/\/beta.openai.com\/account\/api-keys<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have an API key, click &#8220;Create new secret key&#8221;. Copy the key and paste it into Make&#8217;s dialogue box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, get your Organization ID here: <a href=\"https:\/\/platform.openai.com\/account\/organization\">https:\/\/platform.openai.com\/account\/organization<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the greyed-out section called &#8220;Organization ID&#8221;, copy the whole string and paste it in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have created the OpenAI connection, you will see a &#8220;Model&#8221; dropdown selection menu.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"model\">Model<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Choose <strong>gpt-3.5-turbo<\/strong>. I know I said to use gpt-4, but for testing purposes, you want to use a cheaper model. You will still need to fine-tune your prompts and connections, so don&#8217;t spend 10x more than you need to.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"messages\">Messages<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>In messages, press <strong>Add item<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, for Role, choose &#8220;User&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Message Content, we want ChatGPT to start by creating an outline. So, let&#8217;s enter this prompt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>Topic: \"Three ways to use AI to write blog posts\" \nYou are to write an SEO article outline with 3 headings. Do not add an Introduction or Conclusion heading. Number the headings using Roman numerals. Do not output anything but the headings.<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Change the topic to whatever you want. You can also change the number of headings from 3 to whatever you want. Press OK.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"writing-content-for-the-outline-using-chatgpt\">Writing Content For The Outline Using ChatGPT<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Now, create another ChatGPT module by hovering over the semicircle on the right of your first module.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"850\" height=\"543\" src=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3063\" srcset=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-2.png 850w, https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-2-650x415.png 650w, https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-2-768x491.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s time to tell ChatGPT to generate content for the outline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Put the settings in the screenshot below.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"445\" height=\"790\" src=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/chatgpt-make-automation-jpg.webp\" alt=\"make chatgpt module automation\" class=\"wp-image-3062\" srcset=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/chatgpt-make-automation-jpg.webp 445w, https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/chatgpt-make-automation-366x650.webp 366w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 445px) 100vw, 445px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;Message Content&#8221; part is going to be a bit complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, you&#8217;ll need to get the output from the first module because that&#8217;s where your Outline was generated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, type &#8220;Outline =&#8221; and then click on <strong>Choices &gt; Message &gt; Content. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"578\" src=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-3.png\" alt=\"make chatgpt module automation\" class=\"wp-image-3064\" srcset=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-3.png 780w, https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-3-650x482.png 650w, https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-3-768x569.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>By doing this, you&#8217;re transferring the output from Module 1 to the next module.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you have done the Outline part, this is the rest of the prompt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>Write blog content based on heading I.\nMake sure not to have overlap with other headings.\n\nLimit word count to = 200\n\nTone = Conversational, engaging and friendly. Be sure to use accessible language and weave in authoritative advice, making the content both informative and enjoyable for the reader.\n\nOutput style = HTML tags. Do not output the H1. Use formatting including headings, bold, UL\/OL. <\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>I formatted this so that you can easily tune the output. However, I recommend that you avoid using large word counts like 500. Huge word counts would only mean a lot of repeated content that you&#8217;ll eventually have to clean up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why HTML tags in Output Style? See, if you don&#8217;t specify this, you&#8217;re going to get plaintext. One way you can get proper formatting is to either use Markdown or HTML tags. I chose HTML tags because I could directly copy and paste it into WordPress, but if your CMS takes MD, then use MD.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cloning-article-generator-module\">Cloning Article Generator Module<\/h2>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"548\" src=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/chatgpt-make-automation--jpg.webp\" alt=\"clone modules in make chatgpt\" class=\"wp-image-3065\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You might have noticed that the first line says &#8220;Write blog content based on heading I.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outline has 3 headings. Let&#8217;s duplicate this module and change that to heading II and heading III.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right click the second module and Clone it twice. Once you have cloned it, it won&#8217;t be linked. So click and drag the new module until you see a link, as per the GIF below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"661\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/xyzcreativeworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/linking-modules-in-make-chatgpt.gif\" alt=\"linking modules in make chatgpt\" class=\"wp-image-3066\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on each individual module and change the heading from &#8220;heading I&#8221; to &#8220;heading II&#8221;, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you chose a different number of headings in the initial module, you&#8217;ll have to adjust as necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"putting-the-generated-article-into-google-docs\">Putting The Generated Article Into Google Docs<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;re now done with the blog writing process and we&#8217;ll need to put the content somewhere. You can rename it in Google Docs later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Content, we&#8217;re trying to collate the content from all the blog article writing modules, but not the outline. This is why we&#8217;re only collecting the Message Content from modules 2, 3 and 4 but not module 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;re ready to run the project. Press &#8220;Run Once&#8221; on the bottom left and you will see the generation take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And here&#8217;s the output in Google Docs. For testing purposes, it&#8217;s great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But you want the best AI to create content that you will be publishing. You will want to use the most creative AI that&#8217;s available so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to each ChatGPT module, change the Model to gpt-4 and then click OK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a look at the bottom where I provide both the GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 versions of the same topic.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"troubleshooting-your-make-scenario\">Troubleshooting Your Make Scenario<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>An important part of using Make to automate your processes is debugging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the heart of it, you&#8217;ll have to look at the output. That will tell you if something has gone wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To see the output, click on the thought bubble on the top-right corner of the module.
